Improving Quality of Care Through Research and Innovation
Improving the understanding of chronic kidney disease through expanded research will lead to a more effective and efficient care environment. We support policies that would require the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to conduct a study on disincentives and barriers present in the Medicare system and to determine best practices to increase the rate of living and deceased organ donations.
Together, these reports and studies will reduce the inefficiencies present in the kidney care payment and innovation landscapes, resulting in lower costs, better care and stimulate or incentivize new innovations and therapies.
A study from HHS to better understand the progression of kidney disease and the treatment of kidney failure among minority populations will facilitate the spread of high-quality care across the country by identifying existing shortcomings in the kidney care landscape.
